Job Description As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll ensure the secure and efficient operation of IT infrastructure supporting MACS and VCEA’s online platforms. You’ll contribute to the design and delivery of new or enhanced services, support disaster recovery readiness, and drive continuous improvement through strong documentation and service optimisation. This role sits within the Digital Change and Transformation team, playing a key part in delivering large-scale initiatives under the Digital Reimagination Program (DRI). Ideal for someone with a strong technical background, a proactive mindset, and a passion for digital transformation. Desired Skills and Experience WHAT YOU WILL DO Design, configure, and deploy server and network infrastructure components such as virtual servers, routers and switches to meet business requirements Implement and maintain network security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and access control lists to protect the organisation's network from unauthorised access and cyber threats Experience managing hybrid cloud environments including Exchange hybrid, Azure IaaS, PaaS, and identity services (e.g., Entra ID, ADFS, IAM, PIMManagement of the M365 stack such as Exchange/ Entra AD, Virtualisation (Vmware, Citrix, HyperV) and server hardware located on premise and on Azure Cloud. Design, implement, and manage network connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and Azure cloud services by configuring Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), VPN gateways, ExpressRoute connections, and other networking components to securely extend the organisation's network into the Azure cloud environment Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues and outages in a timely manner by applying strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations, topologies, and changes, and provide regular reports on infrastructure performance, security incidents, and capacity utilisation to management and stakeholders ABOUT YOU Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructure, with a strong understanding of networking protocols, security measures, and troubleshooting techniques A proven track record of working with cloud platforms, with specific expertise in Azure networking services, such as Virtual Networks, VPN gateways, ExpressRoute, and network security groups Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to efficiently diagnose and resolve complex network issues using a variety of network monitoring and diagnostic tools, and a proven track record of identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions Proven experience leading IT infrastructure projects from conception to completion, including planning, resource allocation, and coordination with cross-functional teams, along with the ability to mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, collaborate with IT teams, provide guidance to team members, and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation Ability to engage with stakeholders across schools and head office to support technology adoption and change.
