The Branch is looking to fill three APS 6 Policy Officer vacancies across two teams. About the teams The Industry Insights and Enablement Team is focused on working with the technology industry to make online experiences measurably safer and is responsible for providing industry-related insights that enable eSafety's regulatory operations. We achieve this through strategic industry engagement, gathering intelligence and conducting analysis on online safety practices across the technology ecosystem, and through the creation of Safety by Design resources for, and developed in collaboration with, industry. The Strategic Policy and Tech Futures Team promotes online safety by working to anticipate and address challenges in online safety policy and regulation, including those associated with emerging technologies, such as generative AI and immersive technology. We seek to influence the strategic direction of online safety policy, regulation, and legislation by providing subject matter expertise and advice on online harms, online safety, and new and emerging technologies. We engage across a variety of sectors and contribute to national policy, legislation and regulation related to online safety, technology, and cross-cutting issues. We also conduct horizon scanning and research on emerging online safety challenges and opportunities and provides strategic advice across the agency. The key duties of the position include The Industry Insights and Enablement team is seeking two talented Policy and Engagement Officers to support its strategic objectives. In this role, you will contribute to advancing online safety through the following key responsibilities: Reviewing and updating Safety by Design materials to ensure they remain relevant and applicable to emerging technologies. Providing subject matter expertise on the structures, systems, standards, and processes used across the digital ecosystem to mitigate online risks and harms. Identifying and promoting industry best practices in online safety through the Safety by Design framework to support effective regulation and scalable operations. Expanding eSafety's reach by identifying new industry engagement opportunities and fostering alliances across sectors. Advocating for the integration of Safety by Design principles to embed user safety and rights as core business objectives. Supporting cross-team efforts within eSafety to gather and analyse industry information. Monitoring and analysing industry developments and emerging technology trends. Contributing to the creation of meeting briefings for teams across eSafety. Developing and maintaining information on good practice approaches to online safety. Contributing to the development of team objectives and strategic planning. The Strategic Policy and Tech Futures Team is seeking one talented Policy and Project Officer to support its strategic objectives. In this role, you will contribute to advancing online safety though the following key responsibilities: Conducting research and horizon scanning to produce high quality, robust and evidence-based advice on issues relating to eSafety's role and remit, including through eSafety's technology trends and challenges work stream and other strategic and regulatory policy directions. Engaging with a wide array of stakeholders and representing eSafety in forums, including anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations. Engaging proactively and collaboratively with other teams across eSafety to deliver cross-functional initiatives and respond to emerging issues. Participating in strategic planning, program and project management for the team, and being responsive to workflow changes in an evolving landscape. Supporting eSafety's engagements and awareness of issues by preparing high quality briefings, meeting materials, correspondence and other documents.
