Role Overview I’ve partnered with a well-known and respected manufacturer with 9 plants across Australia and New Zealand to find their next Technical Manager. Based at their flagship Kilcoy site, home to both a full production facility and onsite lab, you’ll step into the shoes of a long-standing technical manager, with a structured handover and ongoing support. This isn’t production management, but you’ll work closely with operations while leading the onsite lab (and its highly experienced Lab Technician), overseeing technical operations, and ensuring compliance with quality, certification, and environmental requirements. Your week will combine lab testing oversight (compost, pH, moisture content, toxicity, electrical conductivity), raw material inspections, and collaboration with production teams, auditors, R&D, and other stakeholders. You’ll also refine formulations, scale up new products, and ensure every batch meets the brand’s high standards Responsibilities : Oversee quality control, testing programs, and compliance with AS3743, AS4454, ACO, and other relevant certifications Manage composting processes, batch releases, and maintain accurate technical records Act as the site liaison for environmental compliance and licence obligations Own and update formulation records, approve raw materials, and advise an packaging claims Coordinate internal and external audits, implementing corrective actions where needed Maintain SDS records and regulatory documentation Support production planning through accurate BOMs and technical input Lead and mentor the onsite Lab Technician Candidate Profile You have a background in horticulture, agronomy, growing media, compost, or a similar field, with proven experience in technical, quality, or compliance roles. You’re equally at home in the lab and out in the yard, translating technical results into practical actions and building strong relationships across all levels. You’ll bring: Relevant qualifications in horticulture, agronomy, or a related science field Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical/quality/compliance Manager role in a relevant industry Knowledge of Australian Standards (AS3743, AS4454) and certification processes Strong analytical and organisational skills Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel Comfort working in both lab and outdoor environments Culture & Benefits You’ll be joining a respected, values-led manufacturing business with an outstanding reputation in its industry.
