About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Planting Manager to join our growing team. As our Community Pocket Forest Planting Manager, you will lead the on-ground creation of native, biodiverse community forests in Perth’s urban and peri-urban environments. You will work closely with heat-vulnerable communities to transform underutilised urban spaces into thriving local ecosystems that enhance climate resilience. Key Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end delivery of community pocket forest projects, including site preparation, soil improvement, planting, and ongoing maintenance. Undertake specialist ecological assessments, including comprehensive flora surveys and detailed site evaluations, to inform evidence-based restoration decisions. Coordinate all logistics for planting sites, including sourcing materials, tools, and managing contractor relationships across multiple concurrent projects. Ensure strict adherence to planting protocols while adapting techniques to meet site-specific conditions. Monitor and document forest health, growth, and improvements in biodiversity over time, using data to demonstrate ecological impact. Engage with diverse stakeholders to build support for projects and encourage active participation from the community. Lead engaging community planting days, creating meaningful experiences that inspire long-term environmental stewardship. Prepare and deliver detailed environmental reports documenting project outcomes, lessons learned, and ecological impacts to showcase real-world conservation success. Essential Qualifications & Experience: Relevant TAFE certificate or diploma (or equivalent), with at least 2 years of experience in ecological restoration, urban forestry, or a related field. Demonstrated hands-on experience conducting flora and vegetation surveys, native plant identification, planting techniques, soil health improvement, and landscaping practices. Current driver's license and willingness to travel across Perth and Peel regions. Knowledge of urban greening protocols. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and undertake physically demanding tasks. Key Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly in community or volunteer settings. Organised, proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent project management and multitasking abilities, with experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar) and design software (AutoCAD/SketchUp) preferred. Experience working with Traditional Owners and Indigenous communities preferred. Why Join Us?
