The DCCEEW is seeking to appoint a Senior Threatened Species Officer to the Greater Sydney Branch, Regional Delivery Division. The Senior Threatened Species Officer will lead delivery of an urban ecological restoration and education project for the critically endangered ecological community Blue Gum High Forest in the Sydney Basin bioregion. The role will plan, co-ordinate and implement this multi-faceted conservation project as part of the Saving our Species (SoS) program. The role prioritises the development of partnerships with local stakeholders to deliver threatened ecological community recovery actions, and provides expert input to project plans, mapping and databases. The role also delivers community engagement and education programs to raise community awareness and encourage participation in biodiversity conservation and management. This role will require regular on-ground site visits in the northern Sydney region. About You You are a passionate conservation professional with strong ecological knowledge and experience in management of threatened ecological communities. You can work independently and collaboratively across diverse land tenures and community settings. You have analytical skills and the ability to provide expert advice on biodiversity management. Your excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills enable you to lead partnerships, educate the community, and influence positive conservation outcomes. You have experience planning and delivering projects, operating within procurement frameworks, conducting fieldwork, collaborating with project partners and contractors, and meeting deadlines. Key knowledge and experience A science degree or a degree in a relevant natural resource discipline. Demonstrated experience in project management and stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of threatened ecological communities and ecological restoration. Proficiency with GIS mapping tools.
