HSE Manager - Civil Construction Brisbane-based | Must be happy to travel to remote projects for site visits $130k - $150k Super Vehicle/Vehicle Allowance | Full-time An established civil contractor is seeking an experienced and hands-on HSE Manager to step in and take ownership of their HSE function. This is an opportunity to build and implement fit-for-purpose systems, work closely with crews on the ground, and make safety a true part of day-to-day operations. With supervisors and engineers already holding Cert IV in Safety, the team is looking for someone with the experience and confidence to provide strategic guidance, ensure compliance with legislation and client standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety and environmental performance while providing support to projects What You'll Be Doing: Design, implementation and management of practical HSE policies and procedures across varied civil works. Visiting remote sites monthly to collaborate with crews, deliver support, training, and implement HSE processes. Supporting PMs and supervisors with incident reviews, investigations , and ongoing safety coaching. Assisting with onboarding, engagement, training and pre-contract compliance . Managing site audits for both safety and environment and contributing to broader system improvements. Champion a strong safety-first culture across all projects. Liaise with clients, regulators and stakeholder on HSE matters. What We're Looking For: Proven experience in a HSE leadership role in FRP/civil construction or infrastructure - ideally someone who started on the tools or in a trade before moving into WHS. Strong writing skills - capable of turning legislation into clear, usable procedures for site teams. Collaborative and grounded - comfortable helping the team write SWMS, offer advice, and build trust. Flexibility to travel to regional projects (approx. once a month), and able to self-manage time and priorities . Exposure to and the ability to operate under Tier 1 and Tier 2 safety systems , while maintaining internal standards. Nice to Have: Exposure to ISO certifications or audit programs . Experience setting up or transitioning to a digital WHS system . Additional skill sets that can add value across systems, engagement, or tendering.
