Employment Type: Multiple ongoing opportunities. Opportunities are available within the Legislation and Advice streams of our Department of Customer Service (DCS) Legal Division. The DCS Legal team supports a diverse business portfolio. including Building Commission NSW, Digital.NSW, NSW Fair Trading, NSW Telco Authority, the Principal Department, SafeWork NSW, Service NSW, and the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA). As a Lawyer, Advisory (Grade 7/8), you will provide valuable contribution to the legislative and advisory teams representing Legal Division in the provision of independent, accurate and timely legal services. You will be supported to grow your legal expertise across diverse areas of legislative and regulatory reform, legal advisory matters and administrative law supporting the agency’s strategic, operational, and legislative priorities. These are ongoing opportunities available on a full-time or part-time job share basis. A talent pool may be created for future opportunities. Remuneration of $113,574 - $125,720 super & leave loading, commensurate with experience. Based in Sydney CBD with hybrid working options available. The person in this role will need to: Work collaboratively with other lawyers in the team in a dynamic environment to provide pragmatic, focused and defensible, risk-based legal services on a diverse range of specialist issues. Research and draft clear, concise legal advice and other related outputs across a range of legislation administered by the Organisation including statutory interpretation, legislative interpretation and reform, administrative law and, legal frameworks underpinning government operations. Be adept at working with a variety of stakeholders to interpret and distil complex legal issues in the preparation of documents and contractual documentation to ensure that statutory, ethical, probity and other legal obligations are properly addressed. About you: You are admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and hold or, are eligible to hold a current practising certificate as a solicitor. You have proven stakeholder management, interpersonal, and communication capability with an ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with stakeholders to support delivery outcomes. You have strong analytical ability, lateral thinking, and problem-solving skills including an ability to apply legal principles in a practical way. You are a client focused team player who can adapt to change and independently manage competing priorities and deadlines. You hold a Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree qualification and have a minimum of 2 years relevant post qualification in two or more of the following areas in either private, in-house corporate or government practice: Regulatory and/or administrative law Information access and privacy law Public law Statutory interpretation What we need from you: To start your journey towards becoming one of our Advisory Lawyers, please submit a covering letter (maximum two pages) and an up-to-date resume of no more than five pages which clearly details your skills and experience as relevant to this position.
