To help bolster our Victorian presence, in line with our continued National growth there is an opportunity for a Technical Director in Melbourne to join our APAC Planning team. We are looking for an experienced statutory planning consultant, who is a market facing leader with strong connections within the Built Environment and/or Energy Sector to assist the team at a senior level to win work and deliver at a high standard, with an existing reputation for doing just this. Our APAC Planning team is made up of a group of highly skilled statutory and environmental planners with an enthusiastic approach to life and work, who enjoy the exposure to a national project pipeline. We collaborate closely with our 23 in-house technical discipline teams to deliver a comprehensive service to clients across various sectors. In this role you will enjoy collaborative working with industry leading professionals across the APAC SLR community of 1000 employees. Responsibilities Working in conjunction with leaders across Melbourne and our 24 APAC Offices this role will see you: Enjoy a market facing role with a significant focus on business development within the local Built Environment and/or Energy Sector. Develop a deep understanding of the existing strengths of the Planning Team and broader SLR Technical Teams, to ensure the right opportunities can be won. Oversee the delivery of planning and environmental approvals (through inception to delivery). Deliver planning analysis via a commercially astute lens to confidently deliver exceptional results. Lead and work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across various sectors (with a focus on the Built Environment and/or Energy Sector). Work closely with the Management Team to drive team and company growth Conduct thorough technical reviews and mentoring/development of junior staff Travelling within Victoria to undertake client meetings, site visits and regulator meetings Experience Not only will you bring a great attitude and enthusiastic approach to your work, you will also have: An exceptional awareness of and connection to the local market, increasing our reputation and developing relationships that can be further established at SLR. Established track record of driving business growth and client engagement in the planning sector. Skilled in navigating the VCAT planning appeals process, including direct representation of clients at hearings. A degree in Town Planning equivalent. With postgraduate qualifications looked upon favorably. 12 years working experience within a consulting business with direct experience in Planning.
