As a Senior Legal Counsel - Workplaces, you will be a trusted advisor who provides solutions-focused, commercial legal advice to stakeholders across the business of Australian Retirement Trust (ART). You will provide legal advice and services across all ART products, services, procurement, technology, intellectual property, insurance, dispute resolution, contract drafting and negotiation as well as corporate transactions, having regard to the strategic goals of ART. Day to day, you'll: Provide corporate legal advice across a full spectrum of legal issues in order to support the activities of, ensure compliance with legal/regulatory obligations (including disclosure obligations) by and manage legal risk for ART. Provide advice and expertise on the drafting, reviewing and negotiation of agreements, contracts and other legal documents and superannuation/insurance product terms and condition to ensure the legal rights of ART are protected. Manage costs and engagement of external legal to ensure cost-effective and accurate legal advice. Mentoring/supervising lawyers within the Corporate Legal team. Remain current with changes in legislation and best practice particularly as it impacts core superannuation business (SIS and Corporations Act) by conducting research, interpretation and training. Collaborate and develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure advice is provided having regard to the strategic goals of ART. Build strategic alliances and partnerships inside and outside of the organisation to create opportunities to execute business strategy through existing and new capabilities. This role is available as a permanent opportunity. About you It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: Tertiary qualifications in law and current unrestricted practising certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner. Extensive post admission experience with a law firm or financial services provider working in the area of superannuation or financial services. Knowledge of Commonwealth and State legislation as it relates to financial services, particularly superannuation, advice and life insurance. Ability to lead negotiations on a range of complex and high value matters. Robust negotiation, drafting, influencing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organisation. Experience in advising and working collaboratively with business teams to deliver time and business critical projects. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strategic working relationships, influence, negotiate with and persuade senior stakeholders.
