About the Role As a Paediatric Music Therapist you will focus on providing high quality, evidence based acute music therapy services, within a multi-disciplinary team, to guests and families of Hummingbird House. This role is fixed term part time position offering 22.5 hours per week until May 2026 with the possibility of extension! Key Role Accountabilities: Deliver high level music therapy clinical services autonomously in the acute tertiary setting including assessment, treatment and education programs based upon: Principles of evidence based practice Family Centred Approach Legal, ethical and professional obligations Awareness of the impact of grief, loss and bereavement. Liaise with, and provide high level clinical advice and education to guests and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers on a regular basis. Ensure high level, effective communication within the music therapy and multidisciplinary teams by actively participating in team meetings and maintaining accurate and regular reports of assessment, treatment and progress. Provide discharge summaries and written referrals / reports to outside agencies as required. About You Degree or post-graduate diploma in music therapy, and proof of registration with the Australian Music Therapy Association Incorporated to be provided to the Children’s Health Service District prior to the commencement of duty. Knowledge of high level music therapy processes including assessment, intervention and evaluation across a variety of conditions/caseload areas within an acute paediatric population. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, clients and families, and to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team supporting patients with complex tertiary needs. Ability to work flexibly and with initiative, and to manage time effectively. Knowledge of and commitment to continuous quality improvement and professional development including commitment to evaluate the effectiveness of individual service provision as well as district wide initiatives. High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively liaise and negotiate with a broad range of stakeholders. Sound financial literacy with the ability to complete administrative tasks associated with expenditure management. Demonstrated thorough understanding and experience of various databases, including data reporting and analysis.
