About Hummingbird House Hummingbird House, Queensland’s only children’s hospice, operates as a medically supported ‘home away from home’ for children affected by a life limiting condition, and their families. The stand-alone purpose-built facility offers 8 guests in care beds, 5 family accommodation suites and a unique ‘end of life’ suite. Underpinned by the notion of creating a ‘warm embrace’ for children and their families, the multidisciplinary team provides 24/7hr scheduled and emergency specialist care short break stays; pain and symptom management; care at the end of life; and psychosocial support programs for the whole family. With strong connections locally, nationally and internationally with specialist paediatric palliative care services, Hummingbird House is an integrated community-based service delivering flexible child and family centred care. About the Role Our housekeeper plays a vital role in the day-to-day running of the House. They provide stability and continuity through daily, hands-on support. They clean and prepare rooms, manage laundry, maintain shared spaces, and ensure the House is welcoming and well-stocked. Because they know the families, they can anticipate needs and offer thoughtful, personalised service—contributing directly to the comfort and wellbeing of those staying with us. We’re looking for someone to work part-time, four days a week, with 6-hour shifts each day. Ideally, this includes rotating a weekend day with the team every three weeks. Key Role Accountabilities: Perform high-standard cleaning of care rooms, family accommodation suites, communal spaces, bathrooms, and offices. Wash, dry, and fold linen, towels, and clothing for guests. Monitor and maintain cleaning and hygiene supplies, order stock as needed, liaise with suppliers, and organise storerooms efficiently. Collaborate closely with the Clinical, Family Support, and Kitchen teams to ensure seamless service delivery. Undertake infection control procedures and deep cleans during high-turnover periods. About You Demonstrated passion and commitment to connecting the community to the mission and vision of Hummingbird House. Minimum of Certificate III in Hospitality (Housekeeping). Proven high level teamwork and collaboration skills to achieve objectives and promote positive working relationships. Strong personal and team based organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate successfully with volunteers, staff and other people with varied interests and backgrounds. Strong PC-based applications skills in a Microsoft office environment.
