The role APRA is seeking a Principal Analyst - Data Governance to join the team on a 2-year fixed term and will be responsible for embedding uplifted data governance policies, standards, and procedures as well as uplifting measurement and monitoring. The role will work closely with data domain leads, data, technology, security and risk to embed data management and data governance practices across APRA. The Team The position will play a key role in role in uplifting enterprise data governance for APRA. You will sit within the Chief Data Office as part of the Data, Technology and Security Division which enables APRA with frameworks, technology and systems that support APRA’s data, technology and security operations and its mandate to help protect the Australian community through data enabled decision making. The role will report directly into the Head of Data Strategy and Governance and will be responsible for working closely with business stakeholders and project teams to ensure that data governance practices are improved and adhered across all business functions. Key responsibilities Embed enhanced enterprise data governance in alignment with APRA’s multi-year Data Strategy. Define, document and implement data governance strategies, policies, standards and frameworks across data lifecycle activities such as data collection, data quality, master, reference and metadata management, analytics, reporting and publishing. Provide expert guidance and support on data governance practices on data collection, validations, enrichment, classification, security, usage, retention and controls to enable APRA’s new data platform. Partner with cross-functional teams across data, technology, security and the business to embed data governance best practices and uplift data maturity across APRA. About you Proven experience in data governance, data management, data quality, data analysis and data risk management or data management projects within financial services, consulting organisation or government agency with complex data environments. Demonstrates initiative and operates as a self-starter, driving tasks and improvements independently. Experience in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and business partners to influence and support data governance initiatives. Experience in documenting and embedding data policies, standards and procedures for data governance and data management capabilities including but not limited to data lifecycle management, metadata management, assessing data risks and controls, data issue management and / or data quality management Understanding of data risk management frameworks and APRA prudential requirements (CPG235,CPS230), National Archives Act, Freedom of Info Act, Privacy Act, Corporations Act & FSCODA. Data Risk and/or Data Management and/or Data Governance Certifications (e.g. CDMP, CIMP) or relevant professional experience highly regarded To work with us, you need to be an Australian citizen with eligibility to gain a Baseline Security clearance.
