About the role Reporting to the Area HR Director, you will be the first point of contact for all HR-related matters across the hotel. You’ll provide timely and expert advice to both managers and team members, ensuring compliance with internal HR policies and Fair Work legislation. In this hands-on role, you’ll support the full employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding to performance management and employee relations. You’ll also play a vital role in driving HR initiatives that enhance employee engagement, build capability, and foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. Core requirements of your role First Point of Contact: Act as the initial contact for HR-related queries from managers and employees, providing accurate and timely advice. Employee Relations: Support the management of performance issues, grievances, and disciplinary matters in line with Fair Work legislation and hotel policies. Recruitment & Onboarding: Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes including advertising, interviewing, reference checks, and onboarding of new team members. HR Administration: Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and HRIS data, ensuring confidentiality and compliance at all times. Policy Compliance: Ensure HR practices align with internal policies, procedures, and Australian employment laws. Learning & Development: Assist in the coordination and delivery of training programs and support leadership development initiatives. Engagement & Culture: Contribute to the planning and execution of employee engagement, wellness, and recognition programs to foster a positive workplace culture. Reporting: Prepare and analyse HR reports including turnover, absenteeism, and other key HR metrics. Workplace Health & Safety : Support WHS initiatives and promote a safe working environment. About you You’re a people-focused HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment. With a strong understanding of employment legislation and best practices, you bring both professionalism and a personable approach to your work. You’re confident in supporting managers, building trusted relationships, and handling a wide range of HR matters with care and confidentiality. You’ll also bring: Previous experience in an HR Advisor, HR Coordinator, or similar role (hospitality or service industry experience highly regarded) A solid understanding of Fair Work legislation, modern awards, and general HR compliance Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and influence at all levels Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Kronos, Chris21, or similar) A proactive, solution-focused mindset and the ability to juggle multiple priorities A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field (or working towards one) Excellent communication, organisational skills, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritise tasks and work in a fast-paced environment. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
