Job description New position Part time 4 days/week, hybrid working arrangement available About SHARC: Established in 1995, Self Help Addiction Resource Centre (SHARC) is a community of people impacted by alcohol, drugs and gambling, including family, friends and supporters. SHARC’s programs and services operate locally, across Victoria, and increasingly, nationally. The positive impacts of our work are visible in the lives of individual people and families as well as in changes in sectors, systems and policy. Each year we assist thousands of individuals and families impacted by alcohol and other drugs, gambling and related harms, helping them to help themselves. Our lived experience-led services offer telephone and online support, education programs, counselling, peer support groups, residential recovery and more. We support the growth and sustainability of the Lived and Living Experience workforce through training, supervision and support. And we advocate, educate, and provide an important platform for consumer voice in the alcohol and other drugs sector through the Association of Participating Service Users (APSU). Our Vision : Lived expertise is at the heart of inclusive communities and services, where people proudly share their experiences and support each other in a society free of stigma and discrimination. Our Purpose : We transform lives, services and society through our community’s lived experience of alcohol and other drugs, gambling and related harms. SHARC places a priority on a positive, supportive, and productive work environment. Our services operate within an empowerment framework which maximises clients’ and volunteers’ opportunities for self-responsibility, mutual support and participation. About the program: IPS is a relational approach to peer work where people with lived experience of mental health, trauma, or other life challenges intentionally build mutual, trusting relationships to explore new ways of understanding, healing, and moving forward. Rather than focusing on fixing or helping, IPS centres on connection, shared learning, and mutual growth. It invites people to move from a lens of “what’s wrong” to “what’s possible”. SHARC has a memorandum of understanding, renewed annually, to oversee and host the IPS Australia Hub and is working with IPS to grow and evolve IPS practice in Australia. Position Objective: The IPS Australia Manager will oversee the evolution, fidelity and sustainability of IPS in Australia. Supporting the development of IPS in Australia is a multi-faceted project with tasks and goals that evolve over time in response to the needs of the community we serve. The Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, quality assurance, and operational effectiveness of national training programs, ensuring the training and core trained network is supported and a robust Australian advisory committee is working effectively. The IPS Manager will work in collaboration with IPS Central to ensure that all training being delivered in Australia is done in a way that upholds the values of IPS.
