$139,681 - $167,659 up to 15.4% Superannuation Edinburgh - SA The Role The Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Exploitation Specialist works in partnership with the Imaging Radar Discipline Lead to co-lead the team that are responsible for conducting high-impact Synthetic Aperture Radar research and development relevant to the current and future Australian Defence Force capabilities. The SAR Specialist will have in-depth understanding of the Defence strategic landscape, Defence IS&T priorities, and deep subject matter expertise in SAR, to effectively engage, communicate and influence plans. Under broad guidance, duties of the SAR Exploitation Specialist will include: Leading and shaping the development of high-impact Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) activities, relevant to the Geospatial Intelligence mission that supports the Defence Targeting Enterprise. Managing the engagement with industry, academia and across Defence, cultivating a high performing culture to ensure delivery of high impact integrated outcomes. Applying scientific knowledge and subject matter expertise, to contribute to the development and assessment of innovative techniques to enhance Defence capabilities. Possess excellent communication skills with a track-record of engaging sponsors, stakeholders and collaborators across Defence, industry and academia. The RF Sensing and EW (RFSEW) Major Science and Technology Capability (MSTC) within DSTG’s Sensors and Effectors Division (SED) drives the application of science and technology to solve problems and deliver solutions for the Australian Government and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and improve their capabilities in radar surveillance. The Imaging Systems & Exploitation (ISE) Science and Technology Capability (STC) within the RFSEW MSTC leads the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) innovation, science and technology research and application to enhance Defence SAR capabilities; with particular focus on sensing and exploitation performance enhancements, as well as self-protection and resilience.
