About the Role The Clinical Nurse will provide clinical leadership and drive clinical excellence to the staff of Hummingbird House, by adhering to the principles of evidence-based practice. The Clinical Nurse will provide support to the Clinical Nurse Consultant by role-modelling behaviours that ensure the delivery of person-centred care to guests and their families, both in Hummingbird House. The Clinical Nurse will work with the Clinical and Family Support Teams to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care needs of guests and their families. The Clinical Nurse will assist the Clinical Facilitator to provide timely and ongoing education to the clinical staff both in Hummingbird House and Hummingbird House. They will provide timely feedback to staff to assist in improving performance and will collaborate Clinical Nurse Consultant to develop an improvement plan, as necessary. Key Role Accountabilities: Provide clinical leadership for the clinical teams in Hummingbird House and Hummingbird @ Home to ensure that clinical care aligns with industry standards of best practice, to facilitate safe, timely guest and family outcomes. Manage own workload and that of others by ensuring appropriate delegation of tasks within individuals’ scope of practice! Participate in the orientation and onboarding of Registered Nurses, Personal Care Workers, Students and Volunteers Demonstrate self-awareness and recognition of professional boundaries in clinical nursing practice and role-model these behaviours to staff. Develop and deliver education in line with identified specialist area/area of practice. Role model behaviours to all staff adhering to Hummingbird House and WMQ policies, the Australian Council for Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) Standards and legislative requirements. Attend meetings as required by the Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Consultant and report back as necessary. Participate in the development and implementation of evidence-based services/interventions to meet the needs of the patients, families, and significant others. Participate in the clinical audit process and evaluation of process and service outcomes to facilitate the ongoing external accreditation of the organisation. Undertake staff appraisals as requested by the Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Consultant About You Willingness to work within Philosophy, Policies and Procedures of WMQ and the Uniting Church of Australia. Current AHPRA Nursing Registration At least 2 years post Registration experience with experience in a related field such as Palliative Care or Paediatric nursing. Demonstrated ability to make appropriate high level clinical and leadership decisions within the scope of the role. Willingness to undertake further training and education relevant to role. Evidence of the ability to build professional and therapeutic relationships and to work effectively in a multi- disciplinary team and with other service providers. Competent in Microsoft Word A working knowledge of the National ACSQHC Standards 1Relevant key personnel and probity checks required by legislation and WMQ policy. Desirable: Knowledge of grief and loss theories with experience in bereavement care. Post Graduate qualification (or equivalent) in relevant areas such as Palliative Care, Paediatrics, Critical Care, Community or Midwifery, or working toward same. Recent qualifications in training, mentorship.
