Join St John’s Community Care as a Maintenance Officer , supporting both our retirement village residents and community clients with home repairs, safety upgrades, and property maintenance. Your work will directly improve the quality of life and independence for older people and those living with disability. About the Role: This is a dual-purpose role supporting: On-site maintenance of village facilities, communal areas, and grounds In-home maintenance services for community-based clients around the Cairns region You will: Perform routine and reactive repairs (e.g. carpentry, minor plumbing, painting, safety fittings) Install small modifications like handrails and ramps to improve client safety Conduct building and grounds inspections and preventative maintenance Respond to work orders and service requests from residents and clients Maintain compliance with safety, OH&S, and quality standards Manage workshop tools, materials, and job records using mobile devices What You’ll Bring: Trade qualification or proven experience in a similar handyman/maintenance role Knowledge of OH&S and safe work practices Ability to troubleshoot and refer work to qualified trades where needed Experience working with or around elderly or vulnerable individuals (advantageous) Friendly, respectful manner and strong communication skills Comfortable using smartphones/tablets and basic software Current Driver’s Licence, Police Check, and relevant clearances What We Offer: A meaningful, community-focused role with variety Be part of a friendly and supportive team Use modern tools and systems to streamline your work Competitive salary and benefits package including: Up to $34,100 tax-free via salary packaging 17.5% leave loading Ongoing training and development opportunities How to Apply: ������ Send your resume and a brief cover letter to: sjccl.org.au
