Description Role Overview: We’re seeking a strategic and commercially astute Commercial Manager to lead contract and commercial management across our diverse project portfolio in Australia and internationally. This pivotal role will oversee contract governance, supplier engagement, head contract negotiation, and risk management, ensuring compliance and value on high-profile construction projects, including those funded by DFAT, USDOS, and USDoD/NAVFAC. Key Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end management of contracts, claims, variations, and commercial negotiations. Resolve contract disputes and proactively manage commercial risks and issues. Co-develop project budgets, monitor performance, and ensure contract compliance. Oversee forecasting, cashflow management, and financial reporting accuracy. Mentor project teams in commercial processes, awareness, and performance improvement. Implement contract standards, templates, and dashboards for governance and reporting. Champion clear communication, structured documentation, and continuous improvement. Act as a key commercial point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Skills And Experiences What We’re Looking For: Extensive experience in contract negotiation, drafting, and lifecycle management. Familiarity with local (AS) and international (NEC, FAR, DFARS) contract standards used in government and defence projects. Proven ability to manage risk, compliance, and financial performance on complex projects. Proficient in contract and project management systems (e.g. SharePoint, Procore, Aconex, Cheops) and remote project delivery environments. Advanced commercial acumen with high attention to detail and process improvement. Strong stakeholder engagement skills in multicultural, high-security, or remote environments. Qualifications in law, construction management, business administration, project management or related field.
