About the role The role contributes to the City by leading a range of Smart Economy initiatives aligned with strategic priorities, such as local activations, grants, events, minor infrastructure projects, and business support programs to boost city visitation, strengthen the local economy, and showcase the City’s competitive advantages and public-facing technologies. Develop and manage strategic projects that support economic growth, including investment attraction, business support, and smart city activations. Cultivate relationships with government agencies, community stakeholders, and international partners to promote Hobart as a destination for sustainable investment. Conduct research and data analysis to identify trends and evaluate the impact of economic initiatives. Provide expert advice on policy development, infrastructure planning, and technology integration to enhance city amenities and commercial viability. Collaborate across Council teams to deliver minor capital works, grants programs, and public-facing technology projects. Demonstrated ability to deliver business support programs and implement smart technology infrastructure, with strong skills in project management and contract oversight to ensure the timely and effective execution of complex initiatives.
