Our client is a respected federal government agency responsible for the regulation and oversight of a key part of Australia’s financial and monetary system. In response to the evolving digital and risk landscape, the agency is delivering a significant uplift across cloud, data, digital, and security functions. The Opportunity This is a rare opportunity to lead and shape the personnel security function for the agency. Operating in a fully remote capacity, the Personnel Security Governance Director will own and deliver the personnel security framework – including policy, risk, awareness, and governance – with no direct staff management responsibilities. This hands-on role is part of a small, high-impact security team working across cyber, information, and personnel security. This is a permanent, ongoing position. The Role Reporting to the Head of Security, you will lead the implementation and maintenance of robust personnel security processes, fully aligned to the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). You will drive improvements across onboarding and offboarding, manage governance activities such as international travel and secondments, and maintain accurate records and executive reporting. You'll also play a key role in shaping cultural awareness and embedding protective security principles across the broader organisation. Key responsibilities include: Lead and maintain personnel security frameworks aligned with the PSPF Integrate security into enterprise onboarding and offboarding processes Oversee risk management processes for international travel and secondments Develop, manage and improve security policies, awareness, and reporting Collaborate with stakeholders across ICT, Risk, Governance, HR and executive functions Support the security team in peak periods with operational activities as needed The Ideal Person You will be a highly experienced personnel security specialist (5 years) with in-depth knowledge of the PSPF and government security protocols. You’re confident operating independently and can drive policy, process and cultural change without requiring direct reports. You are comfortable engaging with stakeholders across the organisation. You will demonstrate: Proven experience managing PSPF-aligned personnel security functions Strong policy development and risk governance capability Ability to work independently in a hands-on, high-trust role Excellent written and verbal communication skills Salary / Rate $180k - $200k total remuneration package including 12% Super Fully remote but can also go in to the Canberra office if preferred Australian citizenship required with the ability to obtain a NV1 clearance How to Apply To apply online, please click on the appropriate link.
