The key duties of the position include Your Role The Naval Materiel Seaworthiness Assurance Agency (NMSwAA) works across the depth and breadth of Navy Capability from program inception all the way through to retirement. The APS6 Materiel Assurance Officer is accountable to the Deputy Director Materiel Assurance (DD MA) under limited direction to perform complex, materiel assurance work within an integrated workforce. They are to maintain a well-developed understanding of regulations, licenses and standards of practice within the context of the Defence Seaworthiness Management System. As part of this work, they are accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews and perform procedural and clerical, support work to achieve results. They also support the Materiel Assurance Lead Engineer to conduct surveillance over Navy platforms and their supporting Fundamental Inputs to Capability. Our Ideal Candidate This role requires a high performing individual with the knowledge, skills and experience to develop and apply contemporary risk-based surveillance methods to the naval materiel environment. This role also requires proactive, positive engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve assurance requirements. There is a fundamental requirement for the MAO to conduct regular waterfront/onsite visits to foster stakeholder relationships, enable in-person meetings and conduct materiel assurance activities to develop strong relationships with stakeholders. Periodic travel may be required as part of this role.
