The key duties of the position include The Role Duties include: Maintaining the Unit Security Register ICW the Unit Security Manager (USM). Maintaining the Unit's Designated Security Assessment Positions (DSAP) list, including compliancy of security vetting and compartment briefs for all posted unit personnel. Provide unit members with accurate security advice as per the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF), Unit level Policy and Orders. Ensure that the Defence Department security policies and DSPF governance are correctly implemented across the unit. Assist in establishing and maintaining the integrity of the physical security of the Units buildings and training areas. Plan and carry out mandatory and proactive ADHOC musters of physical, information and personnel security items. Complete Overseas pre-travel and post travel debriefs. Understudy the USM and be prepared to assume this role if the USM has an extended absence. The APS 4 Security Advisor role is managed by the Unit Security Manager (USM) and forms the Unit Security Cell. The Unit Security Cell provides support to the Unit consisting military and civilian/contracted members for all areas of personnel, Information and Physical security. The successful applicant will have the ability to read and interpret Defence security policy and legislation and practically apply the policy and legislation to security in the workplace. They will effectively communicate with personnel at all levels, both written and verbally, to provide security advice. The successful applicant will be flexible with the ability to negotiate with personnel at all levels across the unit. They will also be confident in delivering information to individuals and groups.
