The department services a catchment of over 250,000 people across Northern Tasmania and offers 24/7 cardiac care. You’ll be joining a team of 7 Cardiologists, supported by experienced nursing and medical staff, in a collaborative environment where evidence-based practice and team culture are highly valued. The Cardiology Department is one of the busiest in the country, performing over 2,000 procedures annually, including more than 500 coronary angioplasties. As part of this dynamic team, you will: Deliver specialist cardiology services, including complex coronary interventions and structural heart procedures Contribute to the development of the Northern Heart Centre, a major new facility with two state-of-the-art catheterisation labs Engage in teaching of advanced trainees and junior doctors (three registrars currently on rotation) Participate in quality improvement, disaster planning, and optional research Have the opportunity to work in the private sector at Calvary St Vincent’s fully equipped cath lab Requirements You must be eligible for specialist registration with AHPRA and hold: Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in General and/or Cardiology, OR Equivalent overseas specialist qualifications (e.g., CCT (UK), CSCST (Ireland), ABIM Board Certification (USA), RCPSC (Canada), or Vocational Registration in NZ) Experience providing high-level cardiology services in a tertiary or regional referral setting Proven ability to contribute to clinical governance, teaching, and service development The Location Launceston offers a unique blend of lifestyle and career opportunities: Affordable housing, easy commutes, and excellent schools Vibrant café scene and access to world-class food and wine Outdoor adventures—from beaches to mountain hikes Family-friendly with a strong community spirit Whether you're seeking to advance your career, lead service design, or enjoy a better work-life balance, this role has it all.
