Lead a transformative biomedical innovation precinct in the heart of Sydney Shape strategy, partnerships, and research translation across academia, health, and industry Drive impact through collaboration, commercialisation, and cutting-edge science Sydney Biomedical Accelerator The Sydney Biomedical Accelerator (SBA) is a landmark partnership between the University of Sydney, Sydney Local Health District, and the NSW Government. Located within Tech Central, SBA brings together world-class researchers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs. SBA’s mission is to fast-track scientific discovery into real-world health outcomes by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, translational research, and commercialisation. As SBA moves from establishment to operation, it will become a globally recognised hub for biomedical innovation. The Executive Director SBA is seeking an Executive Director to lead its strategic direction, operations, and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the SBA Council, the Executive Director will: Implement SBA’s strategic vision and operational model Build and lead a high-performing team, including the COO and innovation leads Cultivate partnerships across academia, health, government, philanthropy, and industry to drive SBA’s growth, long-term sustainability, and real-world impact. Oversee research translation, commercialisation, and precinct development Advocate for SBA’s mission through public engagement and thought leadership This role is pivotal in shaping the future of biomedical innovation in Australia. Key Requirements Proven strategic leadership in complex, multi-stakeholder environments Strong track record in research translation, innovation, and commercialisation Experience securing funding and building sustainable partnerships Exceptional stakeholder engagement and governance capabilities Ability to inspire collaboration across diverse teams and disciplines Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Work Rights: you must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment. Term and remuneration This is a 4-year fixed-term appointment. A competitive remuneration package will be offered, commensurate with experience and responsibilities.
