Your new role This newly created role as a Data Engineer will be responsible for a number of key data initiatives, working closely with the Data Manager but also taking ownership of projects. Responsibilities Collaborate closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Business Analysts (BAs) to gather, document, and validate business and technical requirements; Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and orchestrated data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes and configurations using Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake and related tools; Build and optimize semantic models in Azure Analysis Services to support high performance analytics and reporting; Implement and advocate for data engineering best practices, including code versioning, CI/CD, monitoring, and testing; Implement and manage data security controls across the data warehouse and semantic layer; Continuously monitor and optimize Data solutions for performance, scalability, and reliability; Implement robust data quality frameworks, including profiling, cleansing, validation, and monitoring to ensure accuracy, consistency, and trustworthiness of data; Ensure high-quality documentation for architecture, data flows, and technical design; Drive automation across workflows and pipelines to improve data reliability, consistency, and reusability; Work in agile environments for task tracking and sprint planning; and Other duties and responsibilities as required and nominated by the company from time to time. About you A relevant IT related degree or qualification related to information management is required for this role; 7 years of hands-on experience in data warehouse and analytics; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Strong experience in SQL, Synapse Data warehouse & Pipelines and Azure Analysis services; Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD tools, source control (e.g., Git), and automated testing; Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance principles; Knowledge of Finance and Accounting, Warehouse, Supply chain management, financial services, Sales and Marketing is advantageous; Exposure to Pyspark and Microsoft Fabric is advantageous; Holding Microsoft certifications, such as Azure Data Engineer Associate or Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, is a strong plus; Strong interpersonal skills; thrives in collaborative teams; and Takes initiative and accountability for deliverables.
