Based in Melbourne south-eastern suburbs,. 9-day fortnight - Full-time hours - Casual Rates Benefits: Possibility of Permanency 9-day Fortnight Employee Recognition Program & Service Awards Career Development Opportunities On-going Full-time Hours - Casual Rates Employee Assistance Program for Staff & Family Members Key Responsibilities: Constructing framework sections in metal and other materials using shaping machines and cutting and welding equipment Bolting, screwing, riveting and welding sections together to form complete frameworks Cutting and shaping panels of sheet metal, aluminum and reinforced plastic and attaching to frameworks using hand and power tools Modifying assembly line vehicles to special requirements Preparing new vehicle trim work according to drawings and sketches, and removing old coverings and fittings from vehicles and taking new measurements Selecting and cutting pieces of fabric, vinyl and leather and sewing pieces together using heavy-duty sewing machines Installing internal trim in vehicles such as lining, floor coverings and armrests Plastic repair works Panel, paint repairs Attaching door trims, rubber seals, locks and handles Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiseling and grinding. Use tools to make or repair parts and products Framing and fitting hardware based on different on specifications Work with others of the line Keep a clean and tidy workspace Identify and defective items and handle according to established procedures Follow all relevant safety guidelines and procedures Read and interpret drawings and written instructions QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE Qualified in Certificate III or IV in Engineering (Fabrication) or equivalent.
