Freightways Information Services Australia (FIS AU) provides effective, agile and innovative IT services for multiple field-leading business units within Freightways Australia, including Allied Express, The Information Management Group and Shred-X/Med-X. This Senior Network Engineer (SNE) role joins a strong team of Infrastructure engineers, ensuring Freightways Australia business units are provided with exceptional network solutions while meeting the demands of any proactive or reactive network-related incidents. Candidates will possess expertise across network and security technologies such as Fortinet firewall, Cisco & Juniper switching, Meraki SDWAN, F5 load balancing, Cloudflare WAF. A keen interest and experience in network design & architecture is a definite advantage. The SNE role is responsible for constructing, maintaining, updating & supporting the Freightways core and branch networks in Australia. You will champion FIS AU processes and prioritisation of work to deliver efficient and reliable network support. This role is based at Allied Express in Bankstown and is primarily an on-premises position. Your Key Responsibilities Include: • Engaging in the design and implementation planning of network infrastructure to support organizational growth and strategic business initiatives. • Leads the execution of network implementations to ensure robustness and efficiency. • Identifying, managing and efficiently mitigating risks related to internal and public-facing network services and systems. • Managing network asset lifecycle, including procurement, spares, initial and ongoing deployments, decommissioning and reporting/analytics. • Coordinating network vendors, escalation support inclusive of RMA processes. • Producing documentation and user knowledge base articles surrounding operational processes. About you: • 5 years’ experience maintaining and supporting critical production IT environments. • Experience working in cross-functional IT teams supporting larger business objectives. • Experience in modernizing legacy networking environments and cloud uplift. • Proven experience of effective multi-vendor service delivery, performance and financial management. • Demonstrated experience in enterprise-level network topology. • Demonstrated experience in network security & automation technologies. • Demonstrated experience working in agile environments, maintaining a detail & process-oriented focus while balancing multiple business priorities. • Looking for the next step in your path towards solution architecture and design roles. Requirements of the role: • Expertise across network and security technologies such as Fortinet firewall, Cisco & Juniper switching, Meraki SDWAN, F5 load balancing, Cloudflare WAF. • Expertise in networking fundamentals such as switching (ARP, STP), static and dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF), DHCP, DNS, IP Subnetting, NAT, NTP, Syslog. • Experience with data centre builds, network virtualization technologies and multi-vendor/MSP environments. • Excellent understanding of Network Management functions such as Radius/802.1x, Network Access Control (NAC), SNMP Monitoring, IPSEC VPNs, SSL VPN Remote Access. • Experience with network monitoring, management systems and diagnostic toolsets including NetFlow, SNMP, Zabbix, sFlow, Wireshark. • Ability to design network functionality for broader systems and security implementations. • Proactively learn and trains others in support functions and new technologies.
