Description A Disability Support Worker should be able to demonstrate they possess the following skills: Solid understanding and working knowledge of issues facing people with disabilities and their families. Demonstrated superior understanding of social inclusion, the enabling factors and barriers to social inclusion for people with disability, their families and carers. Ability to apply a person centred, strengths-based approach to service provision and a commitment to capacity building, social inclusion and community engagement. Good communication skills (written and Verbal) and a commitment to engaging positively with others. Demonstrated ability to work and function as an effective team member and also work independently. Understanding and aligning your work ethic with the direction and values of the organisation and the NDIS Guidelines and Code of Conduct. Report all risks and foreseeable risks, concerns and incidents to their manager or the Executive Director via the relevant Staff and/or Client Information Management System. Computer literacy – Ability to be able to access ConneXtions databases via mobile smart phone, and complete relevant records in the organisations client management software. High levels of accuracy and attention to detail. Skills And Experiences To be successful in this role, you will require previous experience or minimum Certificate III in Individual Support or Cert IV Disability and be willing to undertake further studies if required. Knowledge in supporting people with complex needs, be highly motivated, reliable, punctual, and compassionate and demonstrate a commitment to working with people living with disabilities. You will need to have experience with: Hoisting/Transfers Meal Assistance Personal Care Bowel Care Pressure Care Domestic Assistance Therapy Support Community Access As a condition of employment, you are required to obtain and maintain compliance with: NDIS Screening Check Up to Date COVID -19 Vaccinations and health requirements recommended by the Department of Health Current First Aid Certificate including CPR. Current driver’s licence Access to a registered motor vehicle with Comprehensive Insurance NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate III Individual Support or Certificate IV in Disability or working towards/willingness to obtain and complete training as requested. Completion of all required Mandatory training as set by Connextions, including but not limited to: Zero Tolerance Infection prevention and control for Covid 19 Code of Conduct Safe Food Handling Manual handling
