The key duties of the position include Working in the Digital Earth team within Space Division is an opportunity to help solve some of Australia's biggest challenges. Digital Earth programs create free and open satellite data products for the benefit of Australia and the region. Its mission is to embed satellite imagery and data into decisions that support sustainable Australian environments, a resilient society and a strong economy. We are a team of earth observation and data scientists, geospatial analysts, ICT professionals, and project, program and policy managers. The role The Digital Earth Branch's Business, Outreach and Support Director plays a pivotal role in enabling the success of Geoscience Australia's Earth Observation Program and Digital Earth capabilities by providing program and business management support, and a customer outreach function. The Director, Business, Outreach and Support manages both the Communications and Outreach Team, and the Digital Earth Business Support Team. These teams work together to: Develop and implement methodologies, strategies and plans that enable Digital Earth and EO Program engagement with the Earth Observation community to drive adoption and integration of our insights, products and services across Australian government, industry and academia - including but not limited to digital media, event management, support and coordination, and development of promotional, training and support materials. Drive branch operations, supporting the Branch Head in branch coordination and logistics, event and communications management to ensure timely engagement on requirements and alignment to strategic objectives and operational requirements. Provide program level oversight of the Digital Earth governance, ensuring that coordination, information management and escalation processes are operating effectively. Deliver ongoing improvement of a tailored governance function that integrates with other organisational governance frameworks (secretariat functions, benefits and performance management, business intelligence, and reporting). To be successful in this role you will: Build and lead an inclusive, high-performing and integrated multi-disciplinary team that combines growth mindset with a service delivery culture. Work with a high level of autonomy under broad direction with a concurrent need to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes, and effectively manage a number of dynamic, competing priorities. Manage budgets, contracts, procurements and human resources for the Directorate, and support Senior Leadership to manage budgets, contracts and human resources across the Branch. Build and sustain collaborative working relationships, partnerships and networks with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver on shared agendas and work towards mutually beneficial outcomes. Manage complex customer relationships, including negotiation and management of customer expectations to ensure positive outcomes. Exercise strong judgement, providing expert and timely evidence-based advice to enable senior decision-making.
