About the role The Training Policy and Assurance Lead is responsible for the implementation, oversight, and continuous monitoring of key policies that shape TAFE SA’s training practices, decision-making processes, and educational outcomes. This includes policies linked to Federal and State programs, often underpinned by specific funding arrangements and operational requirements. The role plays a critical part in managing compliance by ensuring that risks and opportunities identified through audits and quality reviews are appropriately tracked, addressed, and embedded into continuous improvement processes. Additionally, the Training Policy and Assurance Lead provides expert policy and technical advice, developing high-quality documentation to support the Education Operations Division in executing tactical and strategic initiatives. This position champions best practice and drives policy alignment to enable TAFE SA to deliver consistently high-quality education and training services to the community and industry. Key Responsibilities include Monitor, analyse, and evaluate TAFE SA’s educational initiatives and outcomes against key performance indicators, recommending strategies and managing a program of interventions to drive continuous improvement aligned with TAFE SA’s strategic and corporate objectives. Collaborate closely with faculty leadership teams and key internal stakeholders—including Academic Development, Student Experience, Finance and Performance, Marketing, the Office of the Chief Executive, and the Executive Leadership Teams as required. Build and maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders, including state government agencies such as Skills SA and the South Australian Skills Commission, serving as the primary liaison on policy-related matters when required. Key Selection Criteria: Significant experience in planning, leading, coordinating and delivering continuous improvement evaluations, interventions and related programs of work aligned with an organisation’s strategic and corporate goals, preferably within the education sector. Demonstrated high level research and analytical skills with significant ability to think and act strategically to analyse and conceptualise problems, formulate and execute appropriate providing data and business driven solutions to senior level stakeholders in a business-like like manner with original and creative thinking. Comprehensive knowledge of, and significant experience in, developing and implementing policies and procedures across large operations. Demonstrated skills in strategic and business planning processes with an ability to motivate and inspire others to work together as a team to achieve objectives including a proven capability to manage and evaluate group and individual performance against agreed goals and standards. Proven substantial ability to work under broad direction, act independently, identify performance outcomes, exercise significant delegated authority to determine methods in reviewing business systems and processes, plan activities and set priorities to achieve objectives and meet deadlines, often in a context of competing priorities and expectations. Demonstrated ability to maintain systems, collate data from a wide range of sources and using this information conduct insightful analysis to develop written strategic reports, presentations and dashboards. Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including expertise in building effective networks, engaging and negotiating with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels and providing sound, well-formulated written and verbal advice, high level reports and briefings to senior management. Post-secondary qualifications in business, economics, accounting or related field Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and Community. Special Conditions The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS). Out of hours work will be required. Some intrastate/ interstate travel and overnight absences may be required. Incumbent will be required to participate in the department’s Performance Development Program.
