We are pleased to be able to offer a newly created and rare opportunity for an Assistant Winemaker to join our award-winning winemakers and experienced cellar team. The position is full time and permanent, working Monday-Friday outside of vintage, with some weekend and out of hours work as required, and across a 7 day a week roster during vintage which will include night shifts. About the Position Reporting to the Winemaking Team, the majority of time for this hands-on position focuses on working alongside the cellar team. Additionally, the incumbent will work closely with the winemaking team to ensure high quality outcomes for both the Seppeltsfield brand and our key bulk wine supply targets. The Assistant Winemaker will work both individually and within the team across all aspects of the cellar from intake to bottling, including transfers, additions, racking, barrel work, vintage processing and use of machinery (e.g. crushing, pressing, filtration). The role also contributes to the development and management of the weekly work program, ensuring it is implemented to the highest standards of wine quality, cellar safety and hygiene. The position also takes an active role in training and in our Quality, Safety and Environment activities and commitments. Supporting the winemaking team with all aspects of the production process for white, red and fortified wines, the Assistant Winemaker will assist with sampling, analysis, pre-bottling/despatch checks, contribute to tastings, coordinating samplings, trials and competitor tastings, maintain accurate records through EZY Wine system and represent the Seppeltsfield Brand at events, tastings and on-site hosting as required. During vintage this position will be the night shift supervisor, playing an integral role in ensuring cellar work is completed efficiently and effectively, delivering high quality outcomes and ensuring a smooth transition to the day shift team.
