Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project. HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure. The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0. The Opportunity The Project Engineer – Foundations, is responsible for managing and coordinating the design, planning and construction of foundations for transmission towers. This role is critical in ensuring that structures are built on safe, stable, and properly engineered footings – especially in varied and challenging terrain. Please note this role is a site delivery role requiring DIDO/FIFO or relocation where additional allowances will apply. Key Accountabilities · Coordinate foundation design and construction activities, ensuring alignment with geotechnical conditions and project specifications. · Oversee site preparation and foundation installation, including excavation, steel fixing, formwork, concreting and curing. · Review and interpret geotechnical data and design drawings to determine appropriate foundation solutions for each site. · Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards throughout all foundation works. · Maintain accurate construction records and QA documentation, and support timely reporting on progress, issues and milestones. About You · Tertiary qualification in civil or structural engineering (or related discipline), or equivalent industry experience. · Experience in foundation design and construction, ideally within Transmission, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects. · Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, concrete works, and various foundation types. · Sound knowledge of construction safety practices, environmental requirements, and QA/QC procedures. · Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and remote sites. The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
