ABOUT YWCA AUSTRALIA We are a proudly feminist not-for-profit organisation and for over 140 years we have been working at the forefront of gender equality through our housing, community programs and advocacy. Over the years we’ve made significant progress for gender equality as we’ve gone through a number of evolutions, adapting to the ever-changing issues impacting women, young and old. We have evolved again and are transforming the way we operate. Our new 5-year strategy, the YWCA Evolve Strategy (YeS 2026), has recently been launched with a focus on making young women’s leadership and women’s housing our priority for gender equity in Australia. ABOUT THIS ROLE YWCA Australia is currently seeking female identifying or gender diverse Volunteer Mentors to join our Youth Frontiers Team in the Illawarra Region. This is a volunteer position with an expected commitment of 2-6 hours per fortnight. The role is responsible for creating a collaborative partnership with a designated mentee, by: Encouraging mentee interpersonal skills, self-esteem and resilience development Role modelling healthy lifestyle choices and community development ABOUT YOU The ideal applicant will be required to have: A minimum one-year commitment from volunteers, with the option of extended involvement in the program Compulsory attendance to Youth Frontiers Mentoring Program training An understanding of working effectively and sensitively with people with complex needs and challenging behaviors This position will require the applicant to satisfactorily meet our pre-volunteer requirements. This includes: Completion of a national criminal history check and International Police Check(s) (when mentor has resided overseas for 12 months or more in the past 10 years) A valid relevant state-based working with children permit. Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination, which includes Government recommended boosters . Position Description
