Does this sound like you? We’re looking for a results-driven Product Director with deep experience in the development of scientific products. You have extensive experience in product management, project leadership, or R&D programs within the life sciences or biotech industry, with deep knowledge of the product development lifecycle, regulatory frameworks and project management tools. Your strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills are backed by a proven track record of leading teams and delivering complex projects. Preferably, you will have an understanding of LC-MS and associated instrumentation, and hold a relevant masters or doctoral qualification. About the role In this new key role, based in our facility in inner city Melbourne, the Product Director will be responsible for leading the Product Development team to successfully execute new product projects and product improvements for IonOpticks. The incumbent will drive commercial success by ensuring projects align with approved timelines, budgets, deliverables and overall strategic business objectives. You will leverage your industry expertise when working with stakeholders to refine product scope and requirements and will work closely with cross-functional teams to manage risks and facilitate collaboration between departments and geographies, ensuring the successful execution of the go-to-market strategy. Overview of responsibilities Lead the Product Development team to deliver projects - from inception to completion - ensuring timely delivery and adherence parameters, milestones and go-to-market strategies. Contribute to product scope, requirements and business objectives, product roadmaps and development plans, project budgets and allocation of resources. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, particularly scientists, engineers and production leadership, to drive alignment and coordinated execution. Act as the primary point of contact between Australian based product development teams and global R&D and Product teams. Lead the transition of Product Development projects into manufacturing. Compliance with relevant industry regulatory requirements, best practices, and quality standards. Lead, mentor and manage on a day-to-day basis the Australian team of product managers and R&D scientists. Ensure compliance with safety, testing, quality and development processes in accordance with the Quality Management System Active engagement with global teams and undertake international travel as required Key selection criteria Deep experience in the development of scientific products. 7 years of experience in product management, project management, or R&D program leadership, within the life sciences or biotech industry. Strong understanding of product development cycles, including early-stage research, detailed product design and development, and transfer to manufacturing. An understanding of liquid chromatography in the context of LC-MS, and associated instrumentation would be beneficial. Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and a track record of effectively managing and motivating teams (minimum 3 years experience in a hands-on supervisory/team lead role). Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, balancing competing priorities effectively. Experience with regulatory frameworks and their impact on product development. Proficiency in project management tools and Agile or Stage-Gate methodologies. Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement. A relevant masters or doctoral qualification, or equivalent, is preferred. Willing and able to undertake regular international travel and collaborate with global teams Why IonOpticks?
