Port Douglas Backpackers – a vibrant and social hostel in tropical North Queensland – is seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on Hostel Manager to lead our team and create unforgettable experiences for our guests. As part of the Red Rock Venues group, we take pride in delivering excellent service, fun community vibes, and well-maintained facilities in some of Australia's most loved destinations. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations of the hostel, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest relations. Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers to maintain high service standards. Monitor occupancy levels, manage reservations, and maximise revenue through effective pricing and promotions. Drive a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for international and domestic travellers. Manage hostel events and social activities to encourage guest engagement and positive reviews. Maintain compliance with health, safety, and accommodation standards. Prepare operational reports and liaise with senior management of Red Rock Venues. Handle guest complaints and resolve issues in a calm, professional manner. Skills & Requirements: Previous hostel, hotel, or hospitality management experience essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong leadership with a hands-on approach. Comfortable working flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays. Sound knowledge of booking systems and property management systems (e.g., Cloudbeds, RMS). Passion for travel, tourism, and community building. Why Join Us?
