It is only 1.75 hrs from Toowoomba City, which is a large rural city 2.5 hrs from Brisbane CBD. Nanango provides multiple services for patients and travel services for those with no car access. Position Description: The General Practitioner’s main role at the medical centre is to provide comprehensive medical care to individuals, families and communities. The General Practitioner in this position is required to manage various types of illnesses that present in an undifferentiated way at an early stage of development, which may sometimes require urgent intervention. The holistic approach of general practice aims to take into consideration the biological, psychological and social factors relevant to the care of each patient's illness. The General Practitioner’s duties are not confined to specific organs of the body; however, they also have particular skills in treating people with multiple health issues. They must be able to treat patients of any age and sex to levels of complexity that vary. The General Practitioner may be at times involved in emergency care and sometimes will need to perform low complexity surgical procedures. Follow up of our patients are encouraged on simple and complex health conditions. The General Practitioner will provide a range of health services ranging from prevention of illness through to treatment and rehabilitation. The position requires at times consultation with other professionals internally who have additional special skills in some areas of medicine and externally as required, with coordination and ongoing care relating back to the General Practitioner. The General Practitioner in this role will continue to assist patients and the community by providing ongoing education, participation in health promotion, conducting research and assisting training to colleagues and other health professionals.
