Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse to join our dedicated Ward 3B team in a permanent part time capacity, working 56 hours per fortnight. Ward 3B is a dynamic 30-bed unit that specialises in the care of patients with acute medical conditions, as well as those requiring geriatric and telemetry services. You will act as a responsible and effective team member and leader, assist in the overall clinical management of the ward, and be responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and supervision of care provided by nurses in accordance with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency). In this leadership role you will participate in direct patient care and assist the Nurse Manager with supervision and management duties ensuring all ward activities are in accordance with the ongoing Mission, and Values of the St John of God Health Care and objectives of the Nursing Division. The Position Supervises clinical practice of all caregivers taking responsibility for standard of care delivered. Initiates reviews and coordinates care of patients with complex health problems. Serves as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times. Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty. Responsible and accountable for nominated portfolios as designated by Nurse Unit Manager and actively communicate with Nurse Unit Manager regarding updates. Participates in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions. Systematically evaluates actions and documents the outcomes of nursing/medical interventions (including monitoring diagnostic results) and report significant anomalies promptly. Ensures documentation of planned nursing care and holistic care plan remains current and regularly evaluate documentation of the multidisciplinary team to determine their compliance to hospital policy. Prioritises departmental workloads using resources appropriately and cost effectively. Conducts Performance reviews and development (PR&D) plans as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager In collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager, support and coordinate clinical audits to ensure compliance with standards, guidelines, and best practice. Assist Nurse Unit Manager with the analysis of audit findings and work with the team to implement improvement strategies. All other reasonable duties as directed by the relevant Manager/Supervisor. You will hold registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse with significant and recent post-registration experience and the ability to practice at an advanced level. You will have well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, give direction and delegate to the team. You will be required to actively participate in audits and quality improvement activities. To succeed you will have the ability to plan, assess and develop team and individual performance as well as the ability to identify and solve problems including conflict resolution. You will have demonstrated commitment to personal ongoing education and professional development, commitment to nursing and other clinical projects that are implemented to improve patient care and a high level of communication skills. Knowledge of relevant acts, codes and standards relevant to current practice is essential.
