About the role Ikon is seeking a Discipline Lead to spearhead the design, development, and establishment of new Business courses. This pivotal academic leadership role requires significant expertise in business, with a strong emphasis on program development that aligns with Ikon's mission and goals. You'll be responsible for developing comprehensive curriculum, preparing all necessary course accreditation documentation, and recruiting a lecturing team dedicated to academic excellence. Cultivating a collaborative and supportive culture within the discipline is also a core responsibility. Furthermore, this position provides essential administrative and coordination support to the Dean and involves fostering strong, positive relationships with all stakeholders to ensure smooth and cohesive operations. The Discipline Lead is also an active member of the Course Advisory Committee. This is a 24 months fixed term opportunity, with a minimum of 0.6 FTE (3 days) per week Key Responsibilities Course Development and Accreditation Manage the development and design of courses with their respective discipline area, including associated aspects of the learning management system Develop industry relevant teaching and learning strategies that promote employability outcomes Support the preparation of documentation associated with course and professional body accreditation Conduct appropriate benchmarking to ensure quality and currency of courses and assessments Manage the design, development and maintenance of learning resources (including for blended and online delivery as relevant) and facilities for courses to ensure adequacy and appropriateness, and currency. Identify, select and recruit appropriately qualified academic staff for the delivery of subjects Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks, standards, and requirements across all aspects of courses Actively engage with marketing and student recruitment staff to facilitate a clear understanding and communication of course requirements and outcomes Sit on Course Advisory Committees in relation to the development of business courses Lead the development of new courses including businesses cases, course outcomes, course structure, subject outlines, and accreditation submissions; and Participate in planning and launch activities in relation to new courses. Industry Engagement Engage with industry and professional bodies to maintain currency and relevance of courses and pedagogy Establish and maintain memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities Education, experience and skills A PhD in a directly related discipline or field Broad and in-depth knowledge of the Business disciplines Knowledge of contemporary developments in the discipline or field, informed by continuing scholarship and/or practice Skills in contemporary teaching, learning and assessment principles specific to the discipline or field Experience in developing, leading, and managing high performance teams Experience in course development and accreditation of course curriculum Demonstrated understanding of requirements associated with regulatory frameworks, especially the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021.
