Contract role till end of June 2026 with a possible extension Attractive hourly pay rate of $ $153/hr super 8 hours per day/ 40 hours per week Hybrid (Work from home Canberra) Interstate candidates will also be considered for remote working PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: You will be responsible for restoring and optimising ServiceNow Discovery and ITOM capabilities across the ACT Government’s enterprise environment. While operating adjacent to the 2025/26 ICT Infrastructure Refresh Initiative, this role is critical to enabling accurate infrastructure visibility and CMDB integrity, which underpin broader asset management and transformation efforts. You will lead the technical remediation of ServiceNow Discovery, develop scalable integrations, and uplift team capability to ensure sustainable platform performance and alignment with operational and strategic priorities. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Monitor and optimise ServiceNow modules, with a focus on ITOM and Discovery performance, accuracy, and scalability. Develop and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and enterprise systems (e.g., NetBox, Oracle) using REST, SOAP, and custom APIs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align Discovery deployment and configuration with business and operational requirements. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, processes, and integrations to support ongoing governance and platform health. Mentor and coach development and support engineers to uplift team capability in managing ServiceNow Discovery. Tune performance of Discovery schedules, Service Mapping, CMDB health dashboards, and MID server load balancing. Troubleshoot Discovery issues through log analysis, probe and sensor diagnostics, and configuration reviews. Support CMDB data reconciliation and integrity using IRE rules and ITIL-aligned practices. ESSENTIAL REQUIRMENTS: 5–7 years of hands-on ServiceNow experience, ideally in a senior developer or engineering role, with certifications such as CSA and Implementation Specialist (Discovery, ITOM, ITSM). Deep expertise in ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB, including Discovery phases, probes, sensors, patterns, CI relationships, and reconciliation rules. Strong scripting skills in JavaScript, PowerShell, and Unix/Windows scripting for custom development and troubleshooting. Proven ability to develop and maintain integrations using REST, SOAP, Web Services, and Service Graph Connectors. Solid understanding of networking and security concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, firewall auditing) and intermediate server administration across Linux and Windows. Experience managing and configuring MID servers in segmented and secure enterprise environments. Proficiency with ServiceNow integration frameworks such as IntegrationHub, Flow Designer, and Spokes for scalable integration development. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities across technical and non-technical groups. Commitment to documentation, process improvement, and platform sustainability.
