The Bigger Picture At Andromeda Robotics, we’re not just imagining the future of human-robot relationships—we’re building it. Abi is the first emotionally intelligent humanoid companion robot, designed to bring care, conversation, and joy to the people who need it most. Backed by tier-1 investors and with customers already deploying Abi across aged care and healthcare, we’re scaling fast—and we’re doing it with an engineering-first culture that’s obsessed with pushing the limits of what’s possible. This is a rare moment to join: we’re post-technical validation, pre-ubiquity, and building out the team that will take Abi from early access to global scale. Your Role in the Action As a Senior Electronics Engineer at Andromeda Robotics, you’ll lead the design and development of Abi’s entire electrical system—from early architecture decisions to production-grade execution. You’ll set the direction for sensor integration, power delivery, and embedded control, working hands-on across schematic design, PCB layout, and validation. You’ll collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and design teams to build seamless, high-reliability systems that power Abi’s ability to connect with people in deeply human ways. You’ll drive rigorous design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and continuously raise the bar on quality and execution. By combining first-principles thinking with detail-obsessed craftsmanship, you’ll help make Abi not just technically world-class—but emotionally alive. How You’ll Make an Impact Architect and deliver production-ready electronics—from concept through to manufacturing—ensuring Abi’s hardware is robust, reliable, and emotionally expressive. Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and industrial design teams to seamlessly integrate sensors, power systems, and embedded platforms. Own schematic and PCB layout (Altium or equivalent), with best-in-class practices around grounding, power integrity, and DFM. Conduct in-depth circuit analysis and debugging to refine Abi’s performance and prepare her for real-world challenges. Support transition to volume manufacturing, including QA, compliance, and supplier coordination. Write embedded firmware (C, Rust, or equivalent) to bring up systems and enable real-time responsiveness. Lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers—building a culture of excellence, creativity, and continuous improvement. Requirements What We Are Looking For Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field 5 years of professional electronics engineering experience (beyond internships or co-ops), with proven expertise in both high-speed board design (PCIe, Ethernet, EtherCAT) and robust power regulation/distribution Proficiency with Altium (or equivalent) for schematic and PCB layout, demonstrating a meticulous approach to signal integrity, grounding, and manufacturability Comprehensive hands-on experience in circuit analysis, debugging, and validation—using oscilloscopes, power supplies, and simulation tools (e.g., LTspice) to deliver designs that meet the highest performance and reliability standards Familiarity with embedded programming (C, Rust, or equivalent), enabling efficient collaboration across firmware development, FPGA design, and microcontroller integration In-depth understanding of short-circuit protection, switching power supplies, and innovative power management methods for battery-driven and high-current systems Working knowledge of mechanical CAD (e.g., SolidWorks), illustrating the ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical and industrial designers on seamless system integration Proven track record of supporting manufacturing and supply chain processes—overseeing transition to volume production, driving design-for-manufacturability, and upholding compliance standards A passion for mentoring junior engineers, championing rigorous design reviews, and fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation Bonus Qualifications Demonstrated skill in camera electronics, MIPI interfaces, or advanced high-speed protocols (PCIe Gen4/5, USB4, 10G Ethernet) Experience designing compact boards (HDI, flex, rigid-flex) with an eye for precise form-factor constraints Familiarity with Python, C++, or MATLAB for automation and testing, bringing new levels of refinement to system validation and performance optimization A love of tinkering with hardware in your free time—pushing boundaries on personal projects that spark new ideas and breakthroughs Why Join Us You’ll be one of the early builders behind a product the world has never seen before You’ll work on a deeply cross-functional team that blends robotics, AI, and design into one magical product You’ll own real hardware end-to-end, not just one slice of a larger machine You’ll have the autonomy to move fast, the backing of top-tier investors, and the opportunity to do the best work of your career The salary for this position may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional benefits or components based on the specific role. Details will be provided if an employment offer is made. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every requirement, that’s okay—we encourage you to apply. At Andromeda Robotics, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Let’s build the future together.
