Job Summary : Responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of Professional Lines business in Allied World’s newly established Melbourne office. As an Assistant Vice President, the candidate will be asked to contribute to setting and will lead the Victorian distribution strategy for Professional Lines in Australia. The role would be best suited to someone who wants the flexibility and underwriting authority to make decisions within an agreed framework. The role would appeal to either a proven portfolio manager or experienced underwriter or broker, motivated by an opportunity to launch a new office and build a profitable portfolio for a global insurer. A preferred candidate is someone who holds experience in Financial Institutions underwriting with scope in the role to build and develop a dedicated Financial Institutions portfolio nationally, however, this is not essential. Job Duties: • Expand an existing portfolio of business in Victoria by both developing existing relationships and establishing new broker and client relationships. • Actively influence and execute on the underwriting strategy for the Australian Professional Lines portfolio in both Victoria and broader Australia. • Market Allied World products and value propositions to brokers in the Victorian market, collaborating with other Lines of Business in the newly established branch. • Be active in the general day-to-day underwriting function, including undertaking submission reviews, pricing analysis and setting of terms and conditions in-line with the Australia Professional Lines strategy and profitability targets. • As required provide expert advice, guidance and coaching to colleagues generally and to address technical referrals. • For the right candidate, overseeing the national Financial Institution portfolio of products, their development and suitability to market, along with contributing to underwriter’s technical development across Australia and the broader APAC region within the Financial Institutions segment. • Additional work responsibilities, as required.
