Senior Lead Python Software Developer Based in either - ACT - NSW - QLD - SA or VIC Job details The Lead Python Developer will oversee the design, development, and implementation of end-to-end data science solutions within the Microsoft Azure and Data Fabric environment. This role will involve management of Developers within a multi-disciplinary team (approximately 25% leadership and 75% hands-on software development), liaising with stakeholders, providing technical advice and guidance, and leading work to develop data modelling and forecasting solutions. Technical teams will work with large datasets stored in Azure Gen2 Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Synapse, and Databricks (Apache Spark); and implement automated pipelines for data ingestion (Synapse Pipelines), and solution deployment (DevOps pipelines). The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, good leadership and mentoring skills, and have a bias towards collaborative problem solving. Essential criteria Deep understanding and practical experience with core Python, its web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI), and key data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn). Demonstrated expertise in building, training, evaluating, and deploying machine learning models using frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar, with a strong understanding of model optimisation and performance tuning. Evidenced experience and qualifications as a Python Development Lead, with proven ability to manage and mentor a development team. Detailed understanding of the data science lifecycle, from data exploration and pre-processing to model deployment and monitoring. Experience with at least one model deployment framework or service (e.g., Databricks Model Serving, Azure Machine Learning).
