Responsibilities This role is for a Sr. Engineer - Structures on mining projects. Prepare foundation, steel, and concrete structure designs in compliance with industry standards. Perform analysis and design using software like Space Gass, STAAD Pro, SACS, Tekla, E3D, or S3D. Solid understanding of Australian Standards (AS) and international codes. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) for seamless project execution. Prepare civil and structural drawings, specifications, and design calculations. Calculate loads and select structural members based on forces and service demands. Design structural solutions for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects, focusing mainly on industrial projects. Design of shallow and deep foundations, concrete piles, underground concrete vaults, tunnels, and slab reinforcement for various loading conditions. Design steel structures including buildings, additions, access platforms, ladders, stairs, trusses, bents, and support towers. Develop structural connections, including unique ones caused by field interferences. Verify field conditions, constructability, and assist in resolving construction problems. Interpret and design based on various domestic and foreign structural building codes. Familiarize with WSP standard drawings, specifications, practices, procedures, and client standards. Prepare reports, designs, and drawings. Redline drawings for CAD designers and review updated submittals for accuracy. Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and team members. Perform high-quality self-checks of own work following internal QC processes. Report progress to immediate supervisors, understanding project schedules and budgets. Communicate with internal teams and answer questions regarding deliverables. Manage multiple projects and accurately estimate time requirements. Coordinate with Australian lead offices as needed. Participate actively in the design process and provide input to the team. Provide regular updates on work status, risks, or concerns to project leaders. Embed Health & Safety into all work practices per company policies. Support sustainability initiatives. Communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Be willing to learn and adapt. Identify opportunities to improve WSP services to clients and complete timesheets accurately. Mandatory Skills Interest in the following areas: Proficiency in MS Office and Navisworks. Curiosity for learning, cultural awareness, and good English skills (written and verbal). Key competencies include: Technical capability & delivery Adaptability & learning Desired Skills Preference for candidates with Australian experience. 10-14 years of consulting experience in EPCM environments, especially in O&G, Power, Mining industries. Experience in engineering design, shop detailing, or site work in steel and concrete structures. Ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills. Team player and independent worker. Qualifications 10-14 years in structures engineering. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering; a master’s is preferred. Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills. Attention to detail. Experience in a LEAN environment. Experience with Australian and New Zealand projects is an advantage.
