About the role: As the NAPA Speech Therapy Team Leader/Team Manager, you will provide clinical leadership to our team of Speech and Language Pathologists. All Speech Pathologists at NAPA Centre complete skilled assessments and provide intervention to disabled infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents with disorders that affect development of motor, cognitive, and behavioural skills within the professional scope of practice. This role will require you to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team; to provide evidence-based interventions to patients with very complex communication and feeding needs. However, in addition to this, as the Leader you will be an integral part of the team’s success, assisting team members in building on their own service delivery, clinical skills and performance capabilities. Duties include: Accurately assess client conditions using a variety of standardized tools to determine the best individual plan for treatment based on your clinical experience and expertise. Create tailored treatment plans within your specialized skill set that address your client’s limitations, taking into account their age, abilities and other medical/physical factors. Demonstrating a high standard of service delivery and clinical expertise that the team can follow as an example and learn from. Coaching the Speech Therapy team to continuously improve the delivery of quality, customer-focused Speech Therapy services. Engage in Monthly 1:1 with you team member, ot develop therapists’ skills. Guide therapists in seeking external continuing education opportunities in line with their development needs as needed. Participate in Leadership Meetings to ensure a consistent and unified team approach with sharing of ideas, challenges and practice ideas. Providing considered input into the development of clinical practices and procedures. Completion of post training schedule for therapists, including training gap analysis, scheduling additional training and follow up. Monitoring your Speech Therapy team development and growth, responding appropriately as required when areas for development are recognized. About the Leader: Your qualifications include completion of at least a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), from an accredited University. You hold current registration/membership with SPA. You have demonstrated the ability to take on additional responsibilities within a Speech team e.g. assessment and development of treatment plans for more complex cases, supervision of therapy staff/ aides/volunteers and/or additional clinic responsibilities. You have strong clinical experience - 3 years post graduate Speech Pathology experience managing diverse and complex caseloads (in a paediatric environment is highly desired) Youhave the cbility to create a safe, professional, and supportive environment where clients, families and colleagues feel empowered to succeed. You communicate confidently and effectively with clients and other medical professionals. Demonstrates a level of professional empathy towards clients and the ability to develop rapport.
