The Role SMEC are looking for a Senior Fire Engineer (Design) to join our rail team in North Sydney. The successful candidate will design and deliver wet and dry fire services components for various rail projects locally and nationally. This role is suitable for an experienced Fire Engineer with a Building Services background, wanting to expand their project portfolio and work on major rail projects across Australia. Key Responsibilities Design and delivery of wet and dry fire services for various rail projects Production of engineering drawings, reports, specifications and tender packages from preliminary through to construction Reviewing designs, ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC Production of engineering reports and supporting tender proposals Proactively collaborating with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables About You Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent Minimum 5- 8 year’ experience working within a design consultancy Wet and Dry fire services design experience, specifically in the design of sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, gas suppression, EWIS, detection systems and extinguisher requirement FPAS (preferred) Experience in the design of systems for a range of typologies including rail and metro projects, road tunnels, high rise commercial/residential, industrial projects including mixed use developments Experience with the NCC/BCA and Australian Standards pertaining to fire systems within buildings Interpretation of system requirements from statutory codes Experience with Revit and coordination of systems Strong understanding of relevant Australian codes and standards Excellent communication skills In return, SMEC offers you the benefits that come from working in a global multidisciplinary consultancy in an environment where your fresh ideas and enthusiasm will be welcomed and rewarded.
