Position: Chef Indian Cuisine Location: Surrey Hills, Melbourne, VIC, Australia Contract Details: Full-time, Salary: $73,000 to $78,000 plus superannuation Akom Enterprises Pty Ltd is a leading hospitality company that owns and operates Mumtaaz Indian Bistro, a popular restaurant located in Surrey Hills, Melbourne. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time basis. As a Chef at Mumtaaz Indian Bistro, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality Indian dishes, ensuring that they are presented and served to our customers in a timely and efficient manner. You will maintain the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentation. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes according to the restaurant's menu and recipes - Ensure that all dishes are prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner - Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation - Monitor and control portion sizes and food wastage - Train and supervise junior kitchen staff to ensure consistency and quality in food preparation - Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards at all times - Manage inventory and stock levels, and place orders for ingredients and supplies as needed - Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and specials - Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following all sanitation and safety procedures - Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety, and food handling regulations. Requirements: - Proven experience as a Chef of at least 1 year, preferably in an Indian restaurant - Extensive knowledge of Indian cuisine and cooking techniques - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously - Strong leadership and communication skills - Excellent time management and organizational skills - A passion for food and a creative approach to cooking - Ability to work well in a team and independently - Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery/relevant qualifications in culinary arts or a related field is preferred.
