How you will create an impact As a Senior Underwriter at AIG, you will learn how to assess our clients’ risks, price those risks, and create solutions that allow for the long-term sustainability of their businesses, whilst also making a positive contribution to society. In delivering these solutions you will actively leverage over 100 years of insurance knowledge, expertise, and experience to reach across geographical and functional boundaries to create outcomes that further our organization’s objectives and market position. This role reports to the Casualty Manager of our Commercial Accounts Practice, working alongside our team in Sydney. Key accountabilities will include but not limited to: To develop and underwrite Commercial business, including renewal retention, administration services, marketing and compliance and legal obligations, for business generated in Australia within delegated underwriting authority. Achieve agreed production targets by executing on strategic marketing objectives and action plans and developing broker relationships. Increase AIG market share within the Commercial Casualty segment through the development of relationships with key producers, clients and industry groups. Provide timely production and portfolio reporting numbers Assist in the development of strategies to grow profitable business within set budget objectives for Casualty business in Australia. Execute strategic plans to ensure budgets and plans are met, both branch and national. Work in conjunction with the Casualty Manager – Commercial, Client and Broker Engagement team and other Profit Centres to grow the Commercial segment of our business. Provide superior service to offer a differentiated alternative in this very competitive sector of the market. Appropriately develop agreed production budgets in conjunction with the Casualty Manager – Commercial in accordance with growth requirements. Monitoring and reporting of monthly production, retention ratios, new business, hit rates, loss ratio, claims activity, overdue premiums and late bookings. Identify new business prospects & targets including researching and profiling accounts and communicate this detail with Client and Broker Engagement team as well as other Profit Centres. Assist where necessary the Casualty Manager – Commercial, Segment Managers and Casualty Team in development of Client Relationships. Ensure the maintenance/development of solid working relationships with all Commercial clients and brokers. Identification of business opportunities for other profit centres to support the companies cross marketing strategy. Liaise with administration staff, actuarial, legal, claims, finance and accounting and any other services centre to ensure awareness of underwriting and business activities support standards required. Open Communication and information sharing with Segment Managers pertaining to Casualty What you’ll need to succeed Casualty Underwriting experience across a broad range of products including Primary Casualty, Excess/Umbrella in the Commercial segment Entrepreneurial and Solution based approach to Underwriting whilst maintaining and demonstrating a high degree of technical skill Proven working relationship with key Broking partners at the major broking houses Basic understanding of management reporting, Profitability assessment, understanding of financial impact, underwriting and pricing principals and relationship development.
