We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Counsellor & Group Facilitator to provide specialised support to individuals and families bereaved by suicide. This role involves the delivery of both individual counselling and group-based therapeutic programs using trauma-informed, grief-aware approaches. You will work closely with people navigating complex loss, helping them rebuild their world and maintain a continuing bond with the deceased. You will offer psychoeducation, risk assessment, care planning and crisis support, while also facilitating safe, inclusive group spaces for connection and healing. Key Responsibilities: Deliver individual counselling, group therapy and psychoeducational sessions tailored to suicide bereavement Conduct biopsychosocial and suicide risk assessments and create safety and care plans Provide brief, structured interventions (e.g. ACT, CBT, narrative therapy) to support trauma recovery and meaning-making Co-facilitate therapeutic and support groups, including screening and safety planning Liaise with health professionals and community services for wraparound client care Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service development and evaluation Deliver services via telehealth and/or face-to-face depending on client need and location About You: Degree-qualified in counselling, psychology, social work or mental health, with current professional registration (PACFA Clinical, ACA Level 3, AASW or AHPRA) Minimum 2 years’ supervised experience in counselling or therapeutic roles, ideally in suicide postvention or complex grief Skilled in trauma-informed care, risk assessment, and client-centred planning Experience facilitating therapeutic groups and working with people from diverse backgrounds High digital literacy and comfort delivering services remotely Strong understanding of safeguarding, ethical practice, and collaborative care models Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications or specialist training in grief, bereavement or trauma Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Personal or professional lived experience of suicide bereavement This is a rare opportunity to join a purpose-driven organisation making a meaningful impact in the lives of people affected by suicide loss.
