Legal, commercial, and risk teams play a central role in enabling efficient project execution and contract management in a dynamic and fast-evolving energy landscape. About the Role As Legal Counsel, you will support front-end legal matters relating to the development, procurement, and construction of utility-scale renewable energy assets. Working closely with internal project, development, and procurement teams, you will review, draft, and negotiate a range of construction-related contracts, including EPC agreements, grid connection documents, supply contracts, and consultancy engagements. This role is focused purely on front-end legal matters—supporting project structuring, risk allocation, and contract finalisation prior to financial close and commencement of works. You will also advise on contractual frameworks, procurement strategy, and interface management across stakeholders and counterparties. The role sits within a close-knit, commercially minded legal team with visibility across major projects. Key Responsibilities Draft, review, and negotiate EPC, connection, supply, and consultancy contracts Advise internal teams on contract structure, risk mitigation, and legal strategy Support project development and procurement processes through to contract execution Ensure legal input aligns with broader commercial and project delivery objectives Assist with legal aspects of grid connection and interface agreements Work collaboratively with external legal counsel where required Monitor developments in construction and energy law relevant to project delivery Support governance, compliance, and legal risk oversight for new infrastructure projects Business Coverage Utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects across Australia Front-end legal advisory with a focus on contractual risk mitigation and delivery readiness Construction, grid connection, procurement, and consultancy agreements Commercial and project development interface Support through development and pre-construction phases Candidate Profile You are a commercial lawyer with strong front-end construction experience, ideally gained in energy, infrastructure, or major projects. You combine legal rigour with a practical, solutions-oriented approach and have experience supporting multidisciplinary teams in contract development and negotiation.
