Job Description About the role Sydney Airport (SYD) is one of Australia’s most significant infrastructure hubs, and with a dynamic pipeline of development activity underway, we’re looking for a motivated Planning Approvals Coordinator to join our high-performing Planning & Delivery team. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the airport precinct by supporting the coordination and assessment of planning proposals for both airport-led and third-party developments. Reporting to the Planning Approvals Team Leader, you'll be part of a team that ensures projects are delivered in line with regulatory requirements, timelines, and Sydney Airport’s long-term strategic vision. This role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects, from aviation infrastructure to commercial and precinct developments, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and government authorities to facilitate planning approvals that balance operational needs with growth and innovation. This is a 9-month Max-term Contract opportunity. In this role, you will have the opportunity to Coordinate, assess and manage a range of planning approvals, including Development Applications and Minor Works, for both Sydney Airport and third-party development projects. Provide clear advice and guidance to applicants on planning processes, requirements and best practices, while ensuring effective stakeholder engagement throughout all stages. Facilitate referrals, consultations and issue resolution across internal teams and external agencies to support the timely progression of approvals. Conduct site inspections and monitor compliance to ensure developments align with planning regulations, the Airport Master Plan, and Federal Government requirements. Lead early-stage planning input during project feasibility and concept design phases, drawing on your planning and architectural expertise. Drive continuous improvement by identifying ways to streamline approval processes and enhance the applicant experience. About you Tertiary qualifications in architecture, planning, building or similar. Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards and BCA requirements. WHS practice and principles. Knowledge of aviation regulatory requirements. Adaptable to changes within the business and act as a team player through these changes. High level of stakeholder engagement and strong communication skills. High level of attention to detail and strong time management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and customised workflow process platforms.
